– absence –

As I cry here selfishly,

I sit and ask, ‘do you think of me?’

Do you think of me? Do you think of me?

Do you sit and think of how it used to be?

A dusty Tiffin road…

bandanas of orange and green…

words that were never told…

goals that were never seen.

Long treks to Wally World…

warm nights in the courtyard…

as the miles just unfurl…

why is moving on so hard?

As I cry here selfishly,

I sit and ask, ‘do you think of me?’

Do you think of me? Do you think of me?

Do you sit and think of how it used to be?

When you…

are moping down the sidewalk,

and you need a good talk…

or just another set of ears,

then you…

will feel the waves of my heart,

and though we’re eons apart,

I will always be here.

Could you…

see the obvious signs,

down by the riverside,

breezing through Frost Parkway?

Would you…

forgive me acting for myself,

regarding me and no one else…

because I couldn’t stay.

As I cry here selfishly,

I sit and ask, ‘do you think of me?’

Do you think of me? Do you think of me?

Do you sit and think of how it used to be?

As I cry here selfishly,

I sit and ask, ‘do you think of me?’

Do you think of me? Do you think of me?

Do you sit and think of how it used to be?

      1. I’m nominating you for an award, it’s not your typical WP award as we’ve all done plenty. This one I really like the idea of and wanted to share with you.
