– fragments from a pathetic late afternoon –

Circling your block and

forgetting the language of restraint.

On the loose, eyeing a final kill.

Shaming myself, naturally,

as the low evening sun

departs in disgust.

Circling your block and

forgetting all that makes me sane.

Burning down the gas gauge

in the southlands.

Blaming myself, obviously,

as Mr. Moon

makes his hesitant arrival.
