– raggedy hand(s) –

They’re scraped up and

they’re taped up from

quite a day’s work.

They’ve pulled down vines

to the ground with

scraps in the dirt.

Bleeding once again,

and I won’t pretend…

the sting isn’t there, and

that I don’t care…

yet the yard looks

so damn fine,

these

lawns, hedges, and

bushes of mine.

Even in the rain, with

ev’ry ounce of pain, there’s

beauty on these grounds a-

gain.
