– keep the wedding bells –

October 27, 2015 – This is most likely the only ring any of us will ever see on the fourth finger of D.J. Whisenant’s left hand. Delicious.

DING-DANG-DING-DANG-DONG!

DING-DANG-DING-DANG-DONG!

~

I see a gold band,

there on your left hand.

Must’ve cost a pretty penny –

however, I’m not spending

big bucks for my sweet love…

isn’t love sweet enough?

DING-DANG-DING-DANG-DONG!

DING-DANG-DING-DANG-DONG!

Invited all the town,

in your most white of gowns,

or a tuxedo blue

to match the flowers too, but

the color of my vows…

will never match yours now.

DING-DANG-DING-DANG-DONG!

That’s when you begin to sing,

~

“ding-dang-ding-dang-dong” –

a-sweet-sa-cred-song,

“ching-chang-ching-chang-chime” –

a-com-mit-ted-rhyme.

Though I respect your heart,

until death do you part,

for my own sacred health…

please keep the wedding

~

bells (DING-DANG-DING-DANG-DONG!);

please place them on a

shelf (DING-DANG-DING-DANG-DONG!).

Even with the strong

tone (DING-DANG-DING-DANG-DONG!),

please leave them both a-

lone… alone… A-

LONE. Please save your band of

gold (DING-DANG-DING-DANG-DONG!).

And maybe I’m too

bold (DING-DANG-DING-DANG-DONG!)… but

if I jump a broomstick here, I

could be sweeping ‘way some tears.

Pastor, go and take a break;

there will be no marriage today.
