– the thought of them –

An… affliction –
that’s what it just might be.
Such… a sickness –
forever ill; that’s me.
Memory takes ahold of me;
strangles my sweet sanity. For
all the faces I’ve met, it’s the
worst ones I can’t forget.
~
Bullies and backstabbers…
liars and schoolyard cheats…
pests and pains that gather…
at the track team meets…
they’re the ones I’d rather pass
on the lane down my own past.
All these faces that frown, yet I
wonder if they still frown now?
~
Can’t seem to pretend…
with the thought of them.
Can’t comprehend…
my thoughts to give.
Did they grow up leaves all turned,
or neglect lessons to learn?
Here I go again…
with the thought of them.
